The Sacred Grove of Artemis

Medium: Colored Pencil

Size: 8 x 10 in.

Night falls on Artemis' personal hunting ground. The sun has dropped beneath the horizon and the air is thick with scents wafting from the nearby honeysuckle bush. The Harvest of Sif

Medium: Colored Pencil

Size: 8 x 10 in.

With hair as golden as ripe wheat, Sif is the Norse goddess of the Harvest and beloved wife of Thor. Loki enraged the thunder god when he cut Sif's shining mane. Cornered by a furious Thor, Loki saved himself by offering a golden wig for the goddess. In Nordic lands, this tale came to symbolize the changing of the seasons.

Izanami in Contemplation

Medium: Colored Pencil

Size: 8 x 10 in.

Eternally separated from her husband Izanagi and their family by her own choice, Izanami is the Japanese goddess of the dead. In the Hokkaido region of Japan, one of the coldest places on Earth, she is alone. Surrounded only by red-crowned cranes, creatures which mate for life, she is left to consider her decisions and the solitude they have afforded her.

The Theft of Apollo's Cattle

Medium: Colored Pencil & Watercolor

On his very first day of life, the Greek god Hermes stole 40 cows from his half-brother Apollo's herd. By tying straw to their tails and his feet, he was able conceal their tracks. He was nonetheless caught by Apollo and managed to make peace with an offering of the first lyre, which he had just created. Though he never stole again, this act earned him the title of God of Thieves.
